Yin is a doll. She has no emotional feelings or attachments. Yet she has a strange connection with others, especially with her partner, the infamous contractor Hei. Yin, despite her blindness, is very observant. She is able to tell what others are feeling as well as know the deeper reasons behind their actions. Yin is also not able to make her own decisions. She is "programmed" in a minimal way that it makes her incapable of actually able to make her own decisions, though later in the fandom she contradicts this by making the decision of staying with her group when given the choice to leave.
Though Yin is able to understand many things, she is actually quite naive. She is usually not in many situations that put her in danger and when she is (like stated before), she is not sure of what to do. However, Yin can see a lot more than other people, even though she is blind. This may be due to her ability of able to track, watch, and eavesdrop by the means of water. However, this ability can only take place when she herself is in the presence of water.

Yin was not always a doll. Before the moon and its moonlight disappeared, Kirsi (Yin's real name) was living in Finland with her mother. Kirsi was on her way in becoming a great pianist with the help of her piano teacher, Elis Kanstinen. Things were perfect for Kirsi, especially when the moonlight would fall upon her. However, things started falling downwards when Kirsi could sense that her teacher and mother were falling in love.
It was soon after that realization that Kirsi's father died in a plane crash. Her mother was devastated and passed out during the funeral. Later that night, Kirsi nearly caught her mother and piano teacher about to kiss and ran out of the house, because she did not like the idea of her mother betraying her father. Kirsi was not sure where she was running though and ran onto a road where a train was speeding down. She was unaware that her mother had chased after her until she was pushed out of the way, her mother taking the hit of the truck rather than Kirsi. Her mother died that night and Kirsi was left alone with her piano teacher as her guardian.
Sometime between after her mother's death and joining the Syndicate, Kirsi was seperated (it has been suggested that she had run away) from her piano teacher and was changed into a doll when the "Gate" appeared. Not much is known on how she was transformed into a "doll" but Kirsi lost her ability to have any emotions as well as her ability to make decisions. She was later found by the Syndicate and her name was changed into "Yin". She was sent to Tokyo, Japan along with her new teammates: Huang, Mao, and the infamous contractor: BK-201, aka Hei, aka Li Shensheng.
During her time in Tokyo, she uses her ability in tracking people as well as watching and eavesdropping through the means of water, as long as water is present near her. However, she does go through some changes. While in Tokyo, her guardian, Elis Kanstinen had become a famous pianist. Whenever he went on tour, he would search for his lost Kirsi. His tour wound him up in Japan and behold, he finds Kirsi. Elis decides that it is best that he takes Kirsi back to Finland and they would start from where they left off. However, Yin tells him that she is no longer Kirsi and decides that she will stay with her comrades and help the group she belonged in.
